For the next ten days, The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) will be accepting applications for new general liquor licenses authorized for issuance last month. The fee for a new license is $13,800 (inter-county transfer applications will also be accepted during this time, with a fee of $6,000).

Notably, 5 new on-sale general liquor licenses (i.e. “type 47″) were authorized for Napa County, and 15 of such licenses will be available in Monterey County. To qualify, establishments must have a seating capacity of 50 or more diners. If applications exceed the number of new licenses available, the recipients will be chosen by public drawing. There are also several counties, including Monterey, where new off-premises general liquor licenses will be available as well. For a complete list of the newly authorized licenses by county and more information on the application process, see the ABC’s August 2nd Press Release, available here.
