Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) Assistant Administrator, William H. Foster and General Directorate for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs, and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) Director General, Nathalie Homobono signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on September 1, 2011 in Paris aimed at protecting consumers and “to establish a consistent channel for information exchange regarding the import and export of beverage alcohol between France and the United States.”

To accomplish this, the agencies intend to strengthen their cooperation regarding the quality, safety, and methods of analysis of alcoholic beverages used by laboratories in support of the agencies’ regulatory efforts.┬áThe regulatory agencies also aim is to improve communication between the two nations regarding the laws and regulations concerning alcoholic beverages.
